The firm was founded in Bangor, North Wales in 1865 by Morris Wartski, maternal great-great -grandfather of the present day Chairman. Wartski has specialised in the work of Carl Faberge since the 1920's and over the years has owned 13 of the famous Imperial Easter eggs. Known for its academic research and scholarly publications, the firm also focuses on 19th and 20th century jewellers including Castellani, Melillo, Giuliano, Fontenay, Boucheron, Falize, Rene Lalique, Lacloche, Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels. It has organised a number of exhibitions devoted to specific jewellers as well as artistic movements, ranging in subject from Japonisme to its most recent dedicated to Engraved Gems from Antiquity to the nineteenth century.
